K.O.P.F. - Kartografisch Orientierte Passagen Fragmente
Erwin Uhrmann und Karlheinz Essl (Hg.)
In short

Using artificial head stereophony, soundscapes are recorded that relate to a specific place or situation. Uhrmann has written lyrical texts for eight of these compositions and recorded them himself. The resulting work of sound art, K.O.P.F., gives rise to the pieces D.U.N.A., D.Y.J.E., G.R.A.Z., L.U.N.Z., M.E.A.L., R.E.T.Z., R.I.D.E. and S.I.L.L. poetically bring to life the atmosphere of the Danube Delta, the landscape on the Thaya, Graz city center, Lunz am See, an inn in Riedenthal, the countryside around Retz, four attractions in the Prater and Anton Webern's deathplace Mittersill; the titles designate the place and are at the same time acronyms that challenge the listener's imagination. The 3D sound makes them immediately tangible; the cartographic coordinates make them easy to find. The book also contains a making-of-discussion with Elisabeth Zimmermann (producer Ö1-Kunstradio), two essays by Gerhard Eckel (composer and sound artist), a lyrical colloquium by Udo Kawasser (author and dancer), a gently scientific text by Julian Kämper and Felix Kruis, poetic reflections by Karlheinz Essl on kopf.hören and Wahrnehmungsetüden by Erwin Uhrmann. https://www.essl.at/kopf/
