Sounding Future
Platform for sound innovations in technology, music, and visual arts.

This is the right place for you if you are interested in exciting musical, artistic, or audio-technical developments. Or if you are interested in how these developments will change our lives today and in the future.

Hi, I'm Fränk Zimmer and I work as a producer, curator, and media artist. For many years I have been involved in the production and presentation of contemporary and experimental music in real and virtual space. I am interested in new innovative audio tools and topics like 3D audio, AI music tools, field recording, ... and their new artistic possibilities.

Interface of technology, music, and visual art

Producing and experimenting with sound tools always means engaging with technology. Whether this happens in a recording studio, a broadcast facility, or a bedroom studio. Technology is always present and must be controllable to some degree and understandable to achieve project goals. Music listening and music making are undergoing another revolution. Artistic-technical approaches that have been tested for years have now landed in the mainstream in the form of AI tools. Music streaming platforms are analyzing our listening habits and music production is about to change dramatically from producing to mastering to marketing.

Most people I work with love what they do and want to understand the mindset of the people they work with. That often leads to new insights, which in turn inform their work. That's also the reason we created this platform.

Sounding Future is a place at the intersection of technology, music, and visual art. The focus is on both innovative sound tools and the strategies of the people who work with them. Artists, authors, scientists with a background in the humanities or natural sciences, and developers should have a stage here.

Every reader can also be an author

The platform is not a scientific journal and is not subject to peer review. However, there is a formal structure for publishing content on the website.

I would like to thank all the musicians, developers, authors, and friends who have contributed to turning an idea into a real project.
